The house depicted in the present work is on Monhegan Island, Maine and was built in 1908. It sits on the path out to Burnt Head, one of the three cliffs on the eastern side of Monhegan Island. Helen Corbett bought it in 1953 and owned it until 1980.
“Many Monhegan Island houses have a very idiosyncratic style of architecture…and Corbett House is a prime example of what is called Neo-Shingle. I just had to do its portrait.”-Jamie Wyeth
