This work depicts various identified locations throughout New York City that Louise Nevelson was familiar with. The three locations, “Art News”, “Alexander Tatti’s Sculpture Services & Supplies” and ”Herman Stern & Sons Manufacturers of Embroideries and Novelties” were entity’s that Nevelson had a unique association with. The Art News illustration at the top of the drawing, depicts three abstract faces or heads which ties directly to the subject of Alexander Tatti Sculpture Service & Supplies as illustrated in the bottom left of the drawing. Alexander Tatti is credited with developing 'tattistone,' a self-hardening material which Nevelson frequently used in her early sculptures. These early Nevelson sculpture “Tattistone’s” as she named them, show similarities to the abstract faces depicted in the “Art News” abstract in the drawing. Art News continues publication today and the Tatti Art Conservation studio is in its third generation of operation.
